It seems they have pulled together various legacy systems and nobody has had the chance to go through the system from the beginning to the end to see how awfully unintuitive it is.
They will never be able to compete with the other ebook sales channels unless they seriously improve this. It’s not like google does not have the cash to throw at this to make it right!
